This month, our theme is finding joy in the simple pleasures of life.
Looking back, I realize I had a mindset of go, go, go. As a young woman and new wife, I found myself continually striving to move forward toward a new goal. Whether it was a home improvement or another certificate, my to-do list became my priority. I told myself I had to get everything on my list done before I could enjoy what was right in front of me. While a to-do list is helpful, it can also become a trap if we run on autopilot, not taking the time to stop and smell the roses. Now older and wiser, I've come to realize the importance of setting priorities and letting go of distractions. After all, life's sweet moments can only be savored when we're present in the moment. "Enjoy the little things in life because one day you'll look back and realize they were the big things." ~ Robert Brault As the world continues to shift and change all around us, it becomes even more important to care for what truly matters. In our sped-up world, taking a moment to reflect on our priorities can help us rediscover the joy in simple things. I invite you to pause and ask yourself these three simple questions:
Please take a few moments and write them down. The goal is to shine awareness on what truly matters to you and to find opportunities for more joy in your daily life. As you go about your day, try to notice the small moments that align with what matters most to you. It could be a hug from a friend, your dog's warm welcome upon your return home, a vase of fresh flowers, a home-cooked meal or your favorite song. By recognizing these moments, we condition ourselves to find more and more joy in our everyday experiences. May you find joy in the simple pleasures of summer! Comments are closed.
