Waking up to this beautiful July morning, I am greeted with sunshine, a blooming garden, and wet kisses!
In my last letter, I asked you what the three most important things are in your life right now and how often you make time for them. It can be easy to get caught up in 'the doing' of life and forget to ask ourselves these questions. While joy looks different to each of us, it is something we all desire to feel more of. Although it may appear that what happens around us brings us joy, it is important to remember that true joy is a state of mind and stems from within ourselves. It is found in the day-to-day little things that tell the story of our lives. How can we cultivate more joy into our daily lives? By practicing daily gratitude for the little things – taking care of yourself through the acts of simple daily rituals. Do you have a morning ritual you look forward to? Perhaps it's your first cup of tea, coffee or mud water. Beginning the day mindfully and with intention through meditation or prayer are potent ways to begin the day. What brings the most joy to your spirit? I fall short of words to describe the joy daily walks with my dachshund terrier bring me. He has the proud prance of a showhorse, yet he's the size of a miniature toy. Everywhere we go, he is met with adoration and attention. He is my constant reassurance that no matter what is going on around me, life is GOOD when I am present enough to find it in between each blade of grass, the earth beneath my feet, every smile and wet kiss. Remember, my friend, take time for yourself, enjoy the joy, and savor the walk and each little treat. After all, they are the real blessings. May summer be your guide to savor the little things and share them with those you love. Comments are closed.
